HydroMania 2009 was a huge success! About 1,200 third- and fourth-grade students from across the Lehigh Valley attended the event this year, held on the campus of Cedar Crest College. We were unfortunately unable to accommodate all schools who wanted to come, so we have several hundred students on a waiting list for 2010!

Want to help out next year? We are always looking for volunteers who can provide educational activities and exhibits at HydroMania as well as helping hands to keep the program flowing throughout the day. As you might imagine, a spring-time "festival" for 1,200 young students requires a LOT of help! Please visit our Sponsors & Volunteers page to learn more about how to get involved.

Interactive classroom presentations on groundwater and watersheds teach students the importance of protecting our water supplies from contamination. Students learned that groundwater and surface water are connected within a watershed, and human activity can have both positive and negative effects on water quality and quantity in our region. Students complete a scavenger hunt form as they tour the "big tent" at Cedar Crest College. Exhibitors provide short presentations to the students and each exhibitor answers one question on the students' scavenger hunt form. The forms are collected, then prizes given out in a drawing at the end of each session. Dewey makes a live appearance at HydroMania and entertains students during free moments throughout the day. A fun, educational program for all involved, made possible by of sponsors and volunteers!
